<p>doesn't have to be academic.. if you have an interest in world war 1 and like to read historical books and go through archives trying to find more info on world war 1, that would be an intellectual interest u have.</p>

<p>It can be anything intellectual...don't necessarily limit yourself to "math" or "history." Looking at music intellectually is perfectly acceptable for example.</p>
<p>You dont need any academic subject to talk about. I spoke about why the universe interests me. You could probably talk about the interest you developed in the field you are applying for.</p>
<p>yeah that's a good idea. Talking about english and why it's exciting and then applying to engineering might not be the best combo, though it wouldn't necessarily be bad.</p>
