I've posted on this website before, but i'm really hoping to find out some answers.

JMU is by far my number one choice, and i really really hope i can get in there. It's definitely a reach for me, but i hope it works out.

My GPA is 2.73 (not high, but i come from a well-known private school in my area)
Applied Regular Decision

SAT: 1200 out of 1600 and 1760 out of 2400

Many extracurricular activities:

Model United Nations Club
Asian Student Union
Intramural sports every year of high school
I volunteer at a homeless shelter every other week
Boosters club
And multiple other clubs and activities throughout high school.

I asked a present JMU student that i am friends with to write me a letter of recommendation, which she did. Also, the headmaster of my school called the admissions office as a certain recommendation type thing.

Two teachers from my school wrote recommendation letters, along with my college counselor.
I don't believe I am missing anything else.

My GPA is out of 4, i believe. My Freshman and Sophomore grades weren’t too good, but i’ve increased my grades over the years. For the first semester of Senior year, i received all B’s and some A’s.

JMU has gotten more competitive as of late because of its really good prices. It was smart of you to apply there regular decision because typically with early action they only take kids that take honors courses (my friend who has a 3.6 gpa, and an 1850 on the SATs didn’t get in on the first round because she doesn’t take honors classes). The fact that you go to a private school, and have decent SATs means that you have a chance. Don’t give up hope, after all, anything is possible Good luck!!

I got into jmu ea. You have a solid sat score but that gpa is what is gonna bother you. I think their average is like 3.6 ish so it might be a little reach. But as long as ur taking hard classes honors and APs u stl have a chance. I got into UMD which was a reach for me so anything is possible. Goodluck I hope you get in.

Thanks a lot for telling me what you think my chance is! I don’t really believe i’ll get it, even though I want to go more than anything.

My grades went up to a 3.0-3.3 for my first semester of senior year, so hopefully that’ll help when my first semester grades get sent to the admissions counselor at JMU.
