What is my chance for James Madison University + theater audition?

Hello all! This is my first post on here so please forgive me if I don't quite know the ropes yet.
I was wondering about my chances to get into JMU. Could I have some feedback, please?
-I attend a nationally ranked private school and am a rising senior
-3.2 GPA
-1660 SAT, will retake in the fall. Haven't heard from ACT results yet, but will more than likely also retake.
-GPA junior year (my first year with AP/Honors courses) jumped from 3.03 to 3.59
-Honors/AP courses junior year: Acting IV (A), Ancient Greek History (A-), English (A), APUSH (B)
-Honors/AP courses to take senior year: Theatre, French V, English, AP Bio, AP Gov
-President of Thespian Troupe, Academic Team, Animal Care Club, and VP to a club teaching young kids to read
-Lead/Supporting/Ensemble roles in all 4 plays
-National French Honors Society, Gypsy Robe award (theater), faculty interviewer, prospective family tour guide, 2nd place winner of a photography contest, 1st place of a writing contest
-Community service working with the elderly and teaching children to read
-Varsity softball freshman and sophomore year

I'm so very worried because of my GPA and SAT scores. I have extremely bad test anxiety, especially with math, that always brings down my grades in that specific area. Freshman year I got a C- in Algebra II, sophomore year I got a D in Geometry, but I brought math up junior year a significant amount. And math is the section on ACT/SAT I need to work on most.

I'm looking to audition for the theater program, so do you think the audition ways any more/less than GPA/course load/extra curriculars? I'd love to hear your feedback, thanks so much!

And if there's any other schools you think I might fit, please let me know too. Thanks :)

homestead58 – I teach at JMU in the School of Theatre and Dance.

The theatre program at JMU cannot accept a student who is not admitted to the university, but we do make recommendations to academic admissions of students we would like in the program. So, the audition can boost the application of a student within the JMU academic admit range, if the program sends a recommendation. A student who is admitted to the university, but not to the program may attend JMU in a different major.

The theatre program, of course, highly considers the audition, and looks at previous experience… but the total picture is also take into account. There is an essay and an interview as part of the audition as well.

Are you IS or OOS for JMU? Can you come for a visit in the fall?

What is it about JMU that interests you as a program and a school?

If you post on the Theatre and Drama Majors forum (and the Musical Theatre Majors forum) with details of what you are looking for in a program, you may get more feedback on other programs to consider in addition to JMU.

email me at arecchkm@jmu.edu if you have additional specific questions.
