What is my college range?

Now is a good time to have a talk about finances with parents. You have really good stats, but for competitive schools that may mean you’ll get in but not really have a shot at merit money. Private schools can be very expensive. Are you counting on need based aid? Many kids (and parents) mistakenly believe colleges guarantee to make up difference between what they can pay and what school costs. Pick a couple of schools off your list and then include in-state univ and have parents run financial calculators. Once you have a cost limit, you can start picking schools to look at. Larger schools might have more options for major…don’t overlook honors programs at state schools which can give you some benefits of small schools and flexibility in major. Might also be more affordable.

Good luck, you are smart to start early.

BeanTownGirl-Your post is actually really coincidental. Today, I was going to go into town and actually buy a college guide but i didn’t have the time to do it today. Are there any other college guides that are good?
