What is my likelihood of getting into NC State, or UNC chapel hill?

So I am currently a junior at a school in Wake County North Carolina.
I am just flustered with college and all that and I am the giving up mindset.

So my GPA is hopefully a 4.33 by the end of Junior year
My SAT is a 1480
My ACT is 30

My freshman year I got 1 B in English 1; Biology Honors, Computer Programming I, English I Honors, Health and Physical Education, Instrumental Music:Band (Proficient-Hon), Instrumental Music:Band Proficient, NC Math 3 Honors, World History Honors. I got A’s in
My sophomore year I got 2 B’s in Chemistry honors and AP chem; AP Psychology, English II Honors, Instrumental Music:Band Proficient, Pre-Calculus Honors, SAS Programming I (Honors), Instrumental Music:Band Proficient I got A’s in
My Junior I got 4 B’s in AP English, AP US History, AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC (all above 88); I got A’s in Instrumental Music:Band Proficient, Instrumental Music:Band Proficient, AP Environmental Science, AP Computer Science Principles

I am hoping to apply for an engineering major (specifically aeronautical/aerospace) , or exploratory studies, or computer science, or business administration or economics.

The recent class for NC State the class of 2023 has grown so much smaller than I had expected in my school and everyone is going to UNC Charlotte which I truly do not want.

My extra curricular are heavily dependent upon volunteering, Marching band (mostly) and I have 2 summer internships.
Everyone is saying I will get in but the times are changing and my school Councillors are unable to help me.

my Unweighted is also a 3.71

Look up the stats of each of the schools you are interested in and try to exceed them. You seem to be a good match for this school. Plus you are local. But competition for seats is growing at every school and showing interest is key.

Make an appointment to visit the school. My advice is to also meet with a professor /department person. We gained more valuable information this way. It seems your interests are all over the place from engineering to business(check out industrial engineering… Can combine them) . That’s OK. If you get accepted into engineering and it’s not your thing you can always transfer out. Also check out schools that have a more liberal first year so you can check out different fields that interest you.

As you know, UNC overall and NC State engineering are both tough admits – esp. from Wake County. (Stats for engineering admits are much higher than overall stats for NC State – their 25 to 75th percentiles for ACT in engineering is 30-33…)

Your GPA is on the low side for both. I think you have a decent shot but be sure to do a great job with your essay and choose your recs carefully.

If you are female or have another hook for engineering that will help.

FYI, very few students from exploratory studies at NC State move over to engineering. Look up CODA stats for NC State for details.

Good luck!
