What is your family’s budget? Will you be eligible for need-based aid or will you be chasing merit? What is your unweighted GPA (even if you need to calculate it yourself)?
What are you looking for? Large/small? Urban/rural? Greek life? Warm/cold climate? Distance from home?
Sorry for all of the questions but we need to know those things in order to provide advice and suggestions.

oh, do you know if i can edit the post?
how can i make those changes?
I would like to get merit/scholarship. I do not qualify for financial aid. I would like to stay in the northeast.
There is a little pencil in the row with the reply. You can use that to edit

Don’t expect merit from Rutgers.
Ok.
It’s a state school for me. So along that budget I would like to stay.
I can’t find it. Thanks.
What is your unweighted GPA?

I would not submit the SAT score to Fordham. Your 4.3 GPA should stand well on it’s own and IMHO the SAT score doesn’t strengthen that part of your application. Last year my son got into Fordham with no test score submitted, 4.18 weighted GPA and they even threw a little merit his way which we were able to increase a bit more through the appeal process. I should point out that he applied from a Jesuit high school in California so the geographical slant probably helped him too.

I’m not sure getting even the maximum amount of merit at Fordham will bring it down to your instate price at Rutgers. Also, the Ivies do not offer any merit at all, for anyone - only need based aid. Their need-based policies are very generous but they are reaches for every applicant, turning down stellar applicants every year.
It is hard to recommend schools where you could get some merit money without knowing your UW GPA.
Approximately where do you rank in your class? Top 10%? Top 20% Top 50%? It’s impossible to tell where that weighted GPA puts you, since some schools give an extra 0.5, some 1.0, some even 2.0 for honors/AP. My kid’s high school gave only 0.5, so a 4.3 was a great GPA there. At a school which gives 1.0, less so, and at a school which gives 2.0, not very good at all.
I think that Rutgers is a match for you, not a safety, unless that GPA puts you in the top 10% of your class. No, don’t submit that SAT. You might be able to chase merit money at lower ranked LACs in the Northeast. I don’t see you getting into a reach Ivy in the Northeast.
Would you be happy to go to Rutgers?

@parentologist thanks for your input. This is my parent’s first time with the college thing. I am top 25% out of 300.
I don’t think I would love Rutgers. It’s a good school but it seems it lacks a community. I would like a school 3 -4 hours MAX from Manhattan. The furthest is Boston. Pennsylvania seems so rural. I will have to consider it but don’t know much about PA. I like a 10-20k size school.
@helpingmom40 I will post my uw gpa. let me calculated.
@college_cal Thanks! Good luck to your son.
@CiaraFin I will calculate and post.
@Mjkacmom I am not. it is a state school for me. it would be the lowest tuition I could expect to pay.
the question here is MATCH ME.
@JBSeattle which one in particular? I don’t know much about SUNY schools. Do they have a campus?
Yes, do some research and look into them. They are a very good deal. Baruch is one that I looked into for my older daughter but she decided not to apply.
Thanks. After all the back and forth with Fordham my son ended up at George Washington University in Washington DC. GW would fit what you’re looking for size wise but you need to do your research. It’s a very unique school in how things are structured and the amount of independence they expect in their students from day one. They don’t provide much in the way of resources to get started. It sounds from your stats that you might be first gen going to college so that factor may give you a leg up on some of the schools you’re targeting but you still want to be sure to have safeties. Good luck to you!
