What is my percentage chance of getting in???

Gpa:3.75(uw)
Class Rank: top 9 percent
ACT:27
thats basically all you need to know. I know I can get in with those stats but what school should i apply too?

LAS you are middle 50% and thus good chance
Engineering you are probably on the reject pile with that ACT
Business low end of that middle 50% and possibly just below it because of the ACT and consider it a reach.

what if i applied early?
would this increase my chances?

Applying early (highly recommeded) gives you some advantage over those who apply late but above as to chances assumed you would apply before the November 15 "priority" date. LAS usually has a good admission rate, in the 68% range; engineering is often actually higher, about 70%, but 75% of those who apply to engineering usually have ACT scores of 30 or higher; business middle ACT is usually close to 28 to 32 and its admission rate is only 45%.

Applying early will most likely definitely help. In my opinion, just retake the ACT. A point or two more will mean a major difference between rejection and admissions. Your GPA and rank are in good shape so I think you're in limbo between safe and rejection.

Really?

are you talking about LAS?
because i know some people who have a lower gpa than me and have gotten 25's on their ACT and still got in.

Do you by any chance know IUL's ED policy? Also, can anybody tell me how much they like UIL, is Urbana a good town?

That was then. This is now.

Yeah, one must be cautious applying to U of I now more than ever because the number of applicants has increased so much in a short period of time, and it just makes competition tighter and tighter. I also recall reading a recent newspaper article that stated that U of I wanted to reduce the number of freshman admits from the unsually high 7000+ that it has been in the past couple of years back to the traditional-5000-6000 number next year. This would make admissions even more competitive than last year. This is important to keep in mind when you finally apply, because the college and major choice can make the difference between your admission or rejection. It seems like such a slippery slope to me because I know really great students who applied to engineering and others to business, and they were rejected and did NOT receive an alternative offer of admission to LAS, even though I know people accepted to LAS who were much less academically motivated (lower GPAs, less honors classes) and had lower test scores. It seems so incongruous to me because some of the better students end up being rejected from the school entirely; but you'll have to ask yourself if getting into the business program your freshman year is worth the risk of being rejected from the school completely.
