what is pitt's campus like?

I think GAGUY said it well…if you like urban or are not sure, check it out. Otherwise, it may not be for you. While I wouldn’t say there is NO green, it really does feel like an urban campus. While son really liked his visit there - truly very positive - by the end of the evening he said, “well, that answers the urban question for me.” He decided that while he might love a Pitt, GW, or NYU for grad school, he really wanted more of a campus feel with more outdoor opportunities for now. My niece, on the other hand, loved it. I know visits are hard to make happen…time, cost, distance, etc…, it is the best way to really know what fits. If you cannot visit, can you visit another urban campus closer to home to see if you like the general feel? Can you apply now and then go for a visit once you’ve heard from your schools if it remains one of your top choices?

The tour guides DO have microphones. It is very cool.

We are considering Pitt because it has BME and is an urban school, but son does not like traffic. He loved DC and the Metro system. Is there something similar in Pitt, connecting it to nearby larger cities? Son also likes film studies and may minor in that, and he liked the choice of electives Pitt offers. We’ll have to wait to visit after acceptance as well.
