What is PreCalc Like?

I am already advanced in math a few years and am beginning highschool next year. After being barely challenged by Geometry, i decided i might want to skip (test through) algebra II and take precalc. Everyone i ask (parents, math teachers, etc) say it isn't important and will make highschool very tough. So for a person that is already advanced, is Precalc (and calc ab/bc) really hard?

hahha no sir.

You could’ve just bumped your last thread instead of starting a new one.

I think Alg II and pre-calc are unnecessary. Alg II is a logical extension of Alg I and pre-calc is all covered in Calc. All you need is a background in trig and you are golden.

for me, cal was easier than precal.

I don’t understand the need for another thread about math, let alone the same topic…

Its easy, mostly review. Some new things with sinusoids, logs, exponents, vectors, and parametrics

I found Algebra 2 to be tougher than AP Chemistry for some reason. Algebra 2 really is just kind of expanding the concepts learned in Algebra 1… It shouldn’t be that hard.

^ Algebra 2 is hard. I’ve been through Honors Algebra 2 AND PreCalc and I still don’t understand anything about logarithms.

anything? Not even the basic ones?

If it pertains to “ln” or “log,” I’m 100% clueless, yep. I recall about a 5/80 on that test last year or something.

I slightly envy all of you who are waltzing your way through Pre-calc and calc right now.

I thought Algebra II was a very difficult class. My transcript agrees with me. Imaginary numbers? No thank you…

I’m not a fan of Algebra II right now, but I’m understanding exponential growth and decay and logs, that seems easy to me compared to other stuff we’ve done.

Imaginary numbers? Is that where you reduce square roots and have “i?” I actually figured that out but it wasn’t easy.

Numerous teachers have tried to explain logarithms to me and they all fail. I’ll never understand them.

The only "easy’ thing in Algebra 2 was the compound interest (Pe=rT) and exponential growth/decay.

And AP Stats is like 34567890 times worse.

Yes! Those are imaginary numbers. Pain in my ass.

I thought AP stat was supposed to be easy! I inherited my mom’s lack of math talent and she said that stat was one of the easiest math classes imaginable.

ap stats…easy, haha, you’re funny

Pre-Calc was alright. I took it in a community college, fell asleep during most of the lectures. Good thing the professor was chill, we’d always talk before and after class.

^ Did you get an A? haha

Both Pre-Calc and Algebra II are breezes if you’re good at math. I wouldn’t worry about skipping at all. The only concepts in Algebra II that need even a remote amount of brainpower to understand are logarithms and statistics. But those shouldn’t be too hard if you spend a day or two trying to understand. If you need help I suggest watching videos on khanacademy.

…How come you created another thread on this?

@hii’mleila: yeah ahaha it wasn’t a hard class plus the professor was really nice
