What is provided...

in a dorm by the college/university? As I begin my search for what to bring, I must ask this.

The obvious I know: a bed, some sheets, a closet, a desk, a chair, but what else is provided for?

Some dorms have a…kitchenette…though I think most dorms have a microwave regardless but I am not sure…

Most dorms have beds provided…

Look at the sticky at the things you need to bring

My dorm this past year had a bed, a drawer and a closet. This was at Florida A and M University.

My dorm has a bed, a chest of drawers that goes under it, a wardrobe, a lamp, and a desk. It also has a kitchenette, but I don’t think that’s the norm.

What colleges provide sheets? o.O I’ve never heard of that.

Umich provides a bed, a desk, a dresser, and a bookcase. The furniture can stack to make a loft. I was actually told this year that my room probably didn’t have a closet, but it did turn out to in the end.

Bed (well a mattress on a woode/metal “bed base”. Small book case. Table. Phone (which I unplug because it randomly rings and it’s not like anyone has the number). Couch type chair (which is old and dusty). Small wooden chair. Closet.

My dorm room provides a desk, chair, shelves, closet and a bed with just a mattress (the sheets aren’t included).

What you might want to do is look on your college website. They usually have a list of items that are included in the room as well as a list for freshman on what they should/shouldn’t bring to college.

Sent from my Droid using CC App

This is almost definitely on your college’s website. Probably takes less effort to look than to post a thread about it on CC.

Actually, quite a lot do. You just have to ask for them. MSU does for sure.

As others have said, check your U’s website. It’s the only way you can know for sure.

as an international i want to keep the number of things i bring to minimal. i think sheets and stuff can be bought on campus right? what are the kind of things you definitely need that is not easy to obtain once you’re there?

My college does not provide sheets. We get a bed and mattress, desk, chair, a small shelf (usually built into the desk) and a closet. Heat but no A/C. Each hall has a shared “tea pantry” with a family-size fridge and microwave, though no stove.
