I want to be a PA and I know QU has a good PA program but in comparison to its PT, is the school more known for its PA program instead? And overall, is it considered a reputable school? How's the social life there?

I am surprised that nobody has answered this yet so I will take a stab at it although I am not the most educated on their rankings for PA and PC programs. I know us news lists great rankings for quinnipiac in these areas. everyone in our area in New Jersey knows Quinnipiac for their medical programs, teaching and hockey. we have heard over and over again that the school is very social and active but I have no experience in that area yet as my TV will be an incoming freshman.

my best friend’s sister became an occupational therapist and did her graduate work at Quinnipiac. she has glowing reviews of the school and has never had any problems getting work. In fact, over the years she has had to turn away work.

Hope that helps a little.

PA and PT programs I mean

And my D not TV. Lol I can’t edit on my phone!

Cakeisgreat, you are right, Quinnipiac has a great health science reputation, especially for PA and PT. PA is ranked one of the top program in the Northeast and nationwide. What is unique about the program is that it is entry-level only. If a student is admitted as an ELMPA student (Entry Level Master’s of Physician’s Assistant) they are guaranteed a spot in the graduate portion so long as they maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA. PT works the same way and they receive a doctorite when they graduate.

The PA and PT programs are obviously the best and are ranked among the best schools in the country by USNWR.
The Communications school is also elite for example QU is the only nation in the US to offer a masters degree in Sports Journalism. The Undergrad Business School is also very well regarded and was ranked 61st in the Bloomberg rankings last year. The Political Science and History Majors (my majors)are also very strong as QU is home to the famous QU polling institute and most of my History Professors have Ivy degrees and several books published. QU gets a lot of attention for it’s Irish History in particular (it was the sponsor for the St Patrick Day Parade) although I like to think of QU’s history department in it’s entirety as a hidden gem. However QU like most schools has some notoriously weak programs. The Criminal Justice program for example is notoriously bad to the point where I remember reading online a University official saying don’t come to QU for Criminal Justice or something alone the lines of that which is as close as you’re going to get to a school admitting a program sucks. Many of the other liberal arts programs (Philosophy not being among them) however are declining as the school appears to be shifting it’s financial efforts more and more away from the College of Arts and Sciences.

Gah, did Quinnipiac actually support last year’s NYC Parade – I remember being really proud that Guinness dropped out to support Gay Rights.
<a href=“Guinness beer drops sponsorship of New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade over anti-LGBT policy - GLAAD”>http://www.glaad.org/blog/guinness-drops-sponsorship-anti-lgbt-nyc-st-patricks-day-parade

Yes, they were: "The backlash from the parade’s anti-LGBT participant policy caused other major sponsors, such as the well-known beer companies Guinness and Heineken, to pull sponsorship from the parade. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio also refused to march in the parade because of the policy.

Quinnipiac was one of five universities in New York and Connecticut to sponsor the parade. However, of the universities listed—Fairfield University, Iona College, Manhattan College, and Fordham University—Quinnipiac is the only non-denominational school to uphold its sponsorship.

Thanks @cttwinmom2015 for the article. I dolike to be informed on news. Some of your postings have been very helpful. FWIW I did notice that the article also said the following:

"The university has supported a number of events over the course of time, and it has been marching in the NYC parade for more than 25 years,” Bushnell said. “We look at the broader Irish American cultural component of the parade in terms of supporting it. The parade is intended to celebrate Irish American heritage, and all groups that march must be officially recognized Irish American organizations.

“It is important to note that LGBT people are not ‘denied’ the right to march in the parade; rather LGBT people are not permitted to carry signs, nor are any other people who march. The only sign that may be carried is ‘England Get Out of Ireland,’” Bushnell concluded."

You are welcome @cakeisgreat. I actually do not agree that the “It is important to note…” part is important to note, but the beauty of open dialog is that people are entitled to different opinions.
