I hope to major in Economics or PPE, but desired school is in the "reach" zone, so what other schools do u guys recommend? I'm applying for financial aid, the "reach" schools i might not apply for F.A.
thanks and your recommendation would be much appreciated.

Go to fastweb.com and fill out a survey. This way you can get a list of scholarships for you, and schools that will offer scholarships to students like you-some full-rides. Also, don't set your sites on 1 or 2 schools. Pick and apply to a wider range of schools-that way, you'll have better options and you'll be less likely to be disappointed.

yeah i know bout fastweb, anyway, what school is safe ? and what school is reach?? i want a inside view, since i;m unable to visit any college from my place, just wanted some inside view of some good economics college, well of course the best is reknown ones.. plus they have a good fencing team!!

Are you looking to study in the US? Your A level scores are very solid and your SAT, given that Engoish is not your native language, is solid. However, you should take more SAT IIs, especially Physics and other subjects where you think you can exceed the 750 mark.

As it stands, you have a shot at many of the better universities in the US. Are there any financial restrictions or regional/environmental/campus atmosphere preferences we should be aware of?

My criteria:
Strong Economics Major, Philosophy and Politics in interest too
I have "work hard, play hard" mentality, nerd school arent my choice, hehe
What i'm looking for is something special, which will make a major ripple in our short and boring life, of course job perspective is there...
SAT II : will be taking PHY, CHEM, MATH II again
Dun mind LAC, but the problem with that is many ppl in my country doesnt understand and do not appreciate the american uni system, they just want the name and fame...
Thanks for any comment!! please continue replying!! especially those who had visited some campus!!

Vanderbilt, Penn State U, Boston College, Wisconsin-Madison, Indiana-Bloomington, Ohio State-Columbus, University of Southern California, University of Miami, Michigan-Ann Arbor.

I've considered penn state,Boston C, wisconsin,USC and michigan, well what if i can raise up my SAT to higher score, ie Maths: 780-800 CR:650-700 and W:650-700 any better choices or ivies is recommended? anyone visited Brandeis? i've read it from books and it seems quite good, by the way how bout northwestern, i heard their econs is not bad, my close friend is going there for engineering though :)

Brandeis is a good school, as are Carnegie Mellon and the University of Rochester. All of those schools are realistic matches or slight reaches for you. Northwestern and Michigan are amazing, and they too are realistic reaches. If you can get a 650-700 on the verbal section of the SAT to complete your 750+ Math score, I'd say you have a good shot at some of the elite universities, including Michigan and Northwestern.

Ok, Confused bout teacher recommendations and guidance counselor, there are no guidance counselor in my school, our edu system takes national examination, ie, we finish form 5, ( equivalent to year 11) then we take two years course of Pre Uni, ie, junior year and senior year... (( be it stpm or gce alvls)) the thing is,my high school will be the one i finish year 11, but my pre uni college is another institution, so where do i get my teacher recommendation? or guidance counselor letter?

By the time you hit the upper 6th form, your teachers from 5th form will most likely have forgotten you and will not be able to write very detailed recs on you. So your best bet will be to get recs from your 6th form teachers. Of course, if your schools don't have guidance counselors (otherwise known as college counselors), then you get the school superintendent or another teacher to fill that last rec.
