What is religiosity at Southwestern (Texas) like?

I am an atheist and early on I decided that a religiously affiliated school was not for me. I’d like a secular university/college with people of all walks of life (yes I’m aware that religious schools have people of different/no faiths). Diversity is important to me. Please nobody take offense to this but I also don’t want my money to go to a religious institution, because well, I’m not religious. I’ve been doing some reading on Southwestern University and I love it, minus the fact that it’s technically Baptist. Can someone tell me if the school still matches my needs/wants (besides the affiliation)? Is it diverse (faith and race wise), does money go to baptist organizations/the church, etc. Or should I look elsewhere? Thank you!

whoops! It’s Methodist, not Baptist, my bad

Can you visit? At many religious based schools the money flows from denomination to the school, not the other way around. Look at website to see what current relationship is with faith tradition. Many colleges that started denominationally don’t operate that way anymore. Read to see history of institution. Look at core curriculum and see if there are chapel or religion class requirements. If it still requires religion class in Bible, maybe not for you. If it requires general religion/philosophy course, then you would likely be fine there. Visiting and talking to current students is your best bet.

Thanks for the advice! I will do that
