I'm in Kelley right now, and I hate it. I feel like it's all just about making people like you so you can make money, and that's just not my personality. I'm thinking about switching to SPEA, but I don't know much about it. Kelley has the reputation as the party school; what is SPEA's reputation? Is it seen as the school for people who couldn't make it in Kelley? Because I'm doing well in Kelley; I just want to do something that relates more to helping society rather than making money.

I was in the same situation you were last semester. Direct admit to Kelley, hated my classes and didn’t really like the type of people I was around. It’s a great school, don’t get me wrong. It just wasn’t for me. I think it is thought of as the school for people who couldn’t make it in Kelley, but that doesn’t mean all the people are like that. Still plenty of opportunities to network and get internships, especially in DC. If you really don’t like the Kelley attitude then I definitely recommend the switch. I did and I’m much happier now because of it.

do what you feel is right, dont worry about what other people think of SPEA.

I just wish they released more information about salaries and % of students who find jobs upon graduation.

My son was also a Kelly direct admit. He turned that down for a SPEA direct admit and is graduating in May
with a BS in Policy Analysis a minor in Germanic Studies and a certificate in PACE. He was admitted to Washington Leadership Program and did his internship in Washington DC. He has been admitted to Maurer School of Law at IU. He was sure of his decision freshman year and has been very happy since!! IU SPEA is a top ranked school. If I remember correctly for graduate schools with SPEA Syracuse is number one with IU and Harvard tied for second.
