What is Stern's Acceptance %?

The overall school is like 38%

I was wondering what Stern's is. They're the most competitive school at NYU , but I wonder by how much more. Over 20%? Hopefully so...

No. You’re correct, as a university the acceptance rate is absurdly high. Stern, however, is marginally dropping lower and lower. In 2005, it was cited as a “record low acceptance rate of 24.6%.” In 2007, “7,281 people applied for admission at the Undergraduate College for the 2006-2007 academic year and 21% were admitted. Of this 21%, 43% matriculated.”

Couldn’t find anything more up-to-date in the current student or alumni mailings. I imagine it may be nearing sub-20% for the first time ever. Nearing Wharton’s 16%. =)

naahhh, Stern’s acceptance rate is around 18% (below 20% for sure), and in terms of matriculation it’s about 40% (give or take).

However, Wharton’s acceptance is NOT 16%, more like half that - probably around 10% (give or take).

I attend stern and there’s no way stern can be compared to wharton… Sucks i know, but true.

Look at the latest alumni reports from both schools.

And of course, it’s sad but true. In terms of undergrad business, the separation between Wharton and the programs ranked 2-10, whatever they be, is insane. We do, however, have the 2nd-ranked finance program in the country so for pure IBD recruiting, no one else compares as well.

And people here need to stop riding themselves so hard about Wharton. I got in there too, I know two other kids in my year who did as well, and between the three of us, we’ve all already done well for ourselves. I got into front-office BB as a sophomore, one got into BB PWM as a freshman, and the other got into a value-driven hedge as a freshman. Talking to the kids I know at Wharton, the opportunities are great, but only post-graduation. Buy-side shops like Silver Lake, Blackstone, and Bain Capital want you for FT spots because they know you have the most absurdly quantitative finance background possible if you concentrated in it. Your options for work experience before FT recruiting, however, are severely limited.
