What is TAP [Tuition Assitance Program]?

I just got an email from TAP saying that I should apply for financial aid with them... but I've never heard of this before. It says that all my information from doing the FAFSA was sent to them.

Oh and I live in NY btw. Can someone explain to me what this TAP thing is and if it's worth to apply for?

It’s New York State’s tuition assistance program. Based on income you can get a grant of up to $5000 towards tuition if you attend a school in New York State. This is the link to the website, and from there you can click on FAQ or the TAP award estimator. If you have not applied to any instate schools, then there is no need to fill it out.
