Hmm. My school is odd. You can do 2 things.

Here’s what I’m doing:

Freshman: Algebra 1-H (worst class I’ve ever taken…awful teacher. 2nd semester, I had a D, then the teacher gave so many extra credit points that I ended up with a B)
Sophomore: Geometry 1-H
Junior: Algebra 2/Trig-H
Senior: AP Calculus AB (I was gonna take honors…then there was a scheduling conflict)

But a lot of my friends did geometry freshman year, then alg 2-h, then precalc-h, then calc AP. It just depends whether you test out of Alg 1. I did not.

Also, next year we’re getting a statistics course. So the kids that are coming in will be able to take that after calc, I suppose.

Freshman year - Alg. I and Geometry
Sophomore year - Alg.II and Pre-Calculus
Junior Year - Calculus AB
Senior Year - Calculus BC

NOTE: Some people take the courses one year early and get to go to a community college for math their senior year. Also, it has an epic name - Radically Accelerated.

At my high school, here’s the most accelerated track I’ve so far heard of:

9th Grade: Honors Precalc/Calc A
10th Grade: AP Calc BC
11th Grade: AP Statistics or “Applied Math” or Discrete Mathematics or Dual Enrollment
12th Grade: AP Statistics or “Applied Math” or Discrete Mathematics or Dual Enrollment

9th Grade: Geometry Honors
10th Grade: Algebra II and Trigonometry Honors .at this point, students can also take Computer Math (a pre-requisite for AP Comp Sci) and/or, for the incoming 10th graders, AP Stats
11th Grade: Precalculus Honors (this is also the grade at which AP Stats, for my graduating class, and Comp Sci become available)
12th Grade: AP Calc AB or BC

Grade 7: Algebra 1
Grade 8: Honors Geometry
Freshman: Honors Algebra 2
Sophomore: Honors Precalculus
Junior/Senior: Pick two of the following(they are listed in increasing order of difficulty):

Statistics and Mathematical Modeling
Quantitative Literacy
Honors Calculus/Calculus w/Applications(similar to AP Calc, but few topics dropped, slower pace, non AP credit. Does count for weighted GPA as honors though.)
AP Statistics
AP Calculus AB(no BC at my school)

Hi, thought I’d post. My high school went like this:

8th: Algebra I
F: Geometry
So: Algebra II
J: Trig/Pre-Calc (yes, one course)
Sr: Calc I OR Stats (which wasn’t really statistics as it was a review of all the math through high school… weird)

Calc II (also known as AP Calc AB) was a spring course (we had block scheduling). Most people (14 of out my class of 16) took Calc I in the fall, then had Calc II in the spring.
No AP Stats. =( I was very sad.

Anyway, for taking AP Calc AB I get out of Calc I and Calc II from my required math courses for an engineering major (we’re on the quarter system though, so it’s weird). So I just need to take Calc III this fall. Mega awesome cool for an AP test being worth 8 credits, I thought. =D

9th- algebra 1/integrated algebra
10th- geometry <—me this year
11th- trig/algebra 2
12- Pre calc or calc or ap calc IDK yet

some students do this though,
9th- geometry
10th- trig
11th- pre calc
12th- calc or ap calc

I wanna get AP Calc AB in during junior but I doubt my **** school will let me -.-
I hate myself for not thinking about college during 8th grade and taking advanced math…goodbye Wharton…

At my old school, the most advanced track was:

Algebra 2 -> Precalculus -> IB HL Math I (the students in this class take the BC exam) -> IB HL Math II

though starting in Algebra 2 was unnecessary, as another possibility was:

Geometry -> Algebra 2 -> HL Math I -> HL Math II

At my current school, it was:

Algebra 2 -> Precalculus -> AP Calc BC -> Multivar. Calculus/Linear Algebra

My own math track is a little screwy, though. I did Algebra 2 Freshman year, then I initially took Precalc and AP Statistics. However, the teacher noticed that I already knew a bit of Calculus already and pulled some strings to get me into HL Math I, and I had to drop AP Statistics because of a schedule conflict. Then I transferred schools because I was all mortified at how colleges took IB credit, so this year I traferred to an AP school, and I’m taking AP Statistics again and AP Computer Science. I didn’t want to do Multivar. Calc at my school because most colleges wouldn’t accept it as college credit, so my senior year I’ll probably have to go take some classes at a local university or community college.

My school’s regular track goes like this:
Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trig/Pre-Calc or AP Statistics
Honors:
Geometry, Algebra II, Trig/Pre-Calc, AP Stat, Honors Calc.
(No AP Calc classes and AP Stat can be taken at anytime after completion of Algebra II)

At my sister’s school (A Magnet school), the offerings are much different.
The most advanced track goes as such:
Advanced Analysis I, AP Calc BC, Multivariable Calc, Topics in Advanced Mathematics
Fewer than 10 students each year reach Topics in Advanced Mathematics. Those are usually the USAMO and AIME qualifying kids.

7th: Algebra I
8th: Geometry
9th: Algebra II/Trig acc. (with unit circle trig)
10th: AP Stats
11th: Honors Precalculus/IB Math SL (combo class)
12th: AP Calculus BC/IB Math HL (combo class)

Middle school:
7th grade you either go into H Pre-Algebra or “math”
8th grade if you went into H Pre-Algebra you take H Algebra I

HS:
9th grade H Geometry (only up to Geometry is required to graduate)
10th H Alg 2
11th H Precalc - I am here or AP Stats or CP Stats
12th AP Calc AB or AP Stats or CP Stats

I am aware of currently one senior who went from H Alg 2 to AP Calc AB in his junior year (he also self studied the BC parts), skipping Precalc. I did not know this was possible and now 2 months into the school year I have realzied precalc is pretty much all review -.-

Some freshman moved from a different district and is in my H precalc class. I feel inadequate.

In 5th grade you take a placement test to go to either pre-algebra or 6th grade math.
6th grade: pre-algebra
7th grade: algebra I
8th grade: geometry
freshman: algebra II with trig accelerated
sophomore: honors precalculus
junior: AP Calculus AB (5 on AP test :))
senior: AP Calculus BC
some people choose to take AP Stats junior year and then AP Calc AB senior year

-Acc. Algebra 1
-Acc. Geometry
-Acc. Algebra 2
-H. Pre-Calculus
From there, one can take AP Statistics and/or AP Calculus AB. People start at different levels on this track, obviously, but it differs from the normal track in one crucial way: on the normal track, you’re tracked into Tech Math after Algebra 2, which is the most useless time-waster in existence.

There are two math programs depending on how well students performed on their 6th Grade PSSA(State funding test)

7th Grade - “Pre-Algebra”(upper) or Math 7
8th Grade - Algebra I or Math 8
9th Grade - Geometry or Algebra I
10th Grade - Algebra II or Geometry
11th Grade - Trigonometry(basically Pre-Calc) and/or Probability and Statistics or Algebra II(if you haven’t already taken it.)
12th Grade - AP Calculus AB(If you’ve taken Trig) and/or Probability and Statistics or Trig.

My school does not offer honors classes, and the only AP math class is Calculus, which you either take senior year or not at all.
