What is the AP Bio Raw Score Breakdown

For the AP bio exam, is the max amount of points possible 150 or 135, the AP pass AP calculator on the internet that I found says 150 is the max amount of points, however my princeton review book says the max points is 135. This difference comes from the weighting of the MC, Is the MC weighted .75 or .9, I can't find a definitive answer.

Its 140 rather, I believe. 100 for the MCQ’s and 10 each for the 4 Essay Questions.

Are you giving it tomorrow as well?
I’m freaking out!

Yeah I am taking it tomorrow, I am worried about the FRQ but not the MC so much.

No its definitely not 140, because each essay is worth 10 points but then they are weigted 1.5 times. So the max points for the essay is 60, I just don’t know whether the max Multiple choice points are 90 or 75.

I thought it was 150 but I’m not really sure.

150

MC score X .9 (60%)
FRQ score X 1.5 (40%)

ok thanks, so if that is the case then what is the cut off for a 5, because my book says 86 but that can’t be true since I could then score a 5 just with the multiple choice and no free response.

I believe 85-150 would be a 5, 84-65 is 4, 64-48 is 3, 47-29 is 2, and the rest is 1

Maybe but that doesn’t make sense to me because then if someone got all the Multiple choice questions right, then the free response part they could just skip. Because all MC right would be 90 points, which is greater than 85. So either the MC is weighte .75 or the cut off for a five is something higher. College board wouldn’t make the cut off at a point where half the test becomes useless.

Interesting point. On the other hand, I just found this online.
<a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board;

Maybe that would make more sense?

yeah maybe, but that test also had 120 questions, the AP Bio exam now only has 100 questions, which should have an effect on the breakdown.

It is interesting though that even on that 2002 score sheet, if someone was able to get nearly all the multiple choice correct, they could answer just like half of one FRQ and walk out with a 5, is the Bio exam really considered that hard, that the curve is so forgiving.
