I am a junior and am looking to jump 6-8 points. I am trying to figure out the best method to do this. What is the BEST online ACT prep course? Is it better to do face-to-face tutoring ($5000) or an online course? Any other tips? I am sure many of you will say that jumping this amount is not possible but I am determined to do so. Anyone who wants to offer advice, please do. I am desperate to raise my score. THANKS!!
It depends what your score is, if you’re trying to jump 20 to 26, that is possible, if you’re talking 28 to a 36 that is much harder.
My youngest jumped 6 points, 29 to 35, although his first attempt was a bit lower than his practice exams where he was getting around 31. He did lots of timed practice tests on his own and really tried to understand the problems he got wrong. He did work with a tutor one-on-one for about 6, 1-hour sessions to go over areas he struggled with. I paid nowhere close to $5000 more like $600.
I would just add that if your timed practice exams are not close to your goal, then I would not expect anything different on test day
private tutor I believe is best. They can sit with you and narrow your areas of concern and give tips. The best method I found with both of my kids - taking full length practice tests…weekend after weekend. Repetition is best!
