What is the best approach to consulting firm career/top MBA program? (Transfer Ohio Schools)

Hi all,

I am an University of Cincinnati sophomore who has aspirations to going to a top MBA school. I am currently looking to transfer colleges, into a healthcare administration/ pharmacy administration program, or any other related healthcare-business type program. My goal is to work either at a top pharmaceutical company in management or to go into healthcare consulting.

I have heard with resounding force that TOP MBA PROGRAMS RECRUIT FROM TOP FIRMS AND UNDERGRADUATE SCHOOLS and the better the school I go to, the more access I will have (via alumni and recruiters) to top internship oppurtunities at top firms, and/or better chances at admissions at top school. I have looked at such information as poetsandquants “top feeder undergrad b-schools”.

I am entirely conflicted on what schools I should apply/have aspirations to go to. On the one hand, because I seek a career in the pharmaceutical industry, I want to go to in state schools such as the University of Toledo or Ohio northern university, where they have specific programs that cater to my interests and goals. On the other hand, if I am serious about consulting, as well as getting into a top MBA program, schools like Miami University in Ohio boast MUCH greater results as far as putting kids in top MBA programs and linking graduates with positions at higher level companies, that are more global and widely reaching

Money and Scholarship are a big factor here–but I want to maximize my chances at a future in consulting if it is what I decide I really want to do. Top MBA graduates get positions at top companies with global access, which is ultimately what I seek. At miami, they have clubs ect. and all the right connections–however, I feel as though the school might not be the best fit for me and will give me the least amount of money. Also, I want to major in science as well as buisness (in some combination), and while miami’s business program is strong, a pharmacy administration/ health administration major at another school will probably be stronger.

I want to hear some people weigh in on going to a school with a weaker post grad success rate where I will be happier and school will be cheaper vs. going to a more expensive school where I feel like I will be less happy, and what weight a “pharmacy administration” degree (from Utoledo, OU, ONU) will have in the future vs. say, a double major in bio and business (at miami).

If it helps, I am a minority female, a medium partier, 3.7 gpa, who works part time and qualifies for need based aid.
