I have posted a similar thread but I did not get much detailed responses.

I am an African American female who wants to do chemical engineering.
I am second in my class with a 4.0.
SAT: 1590 (Highest scores from all test dates) 1570 (Highest from one test date)
Application, Recommendations, and Extracurricular are great.

I applied to:
* CUNY City C
* Columbia U
* Cornell U
* Drexel U
* Duke U
* Elon U
* Johns Hopkins U
* MIT
* Northeastern U
* Rensselaer Polytec I
* SUNY Binghamton
* SUNY Buffalo
* SUNY Stony Brook
* Syracuse U
* U Pittsburgh
* U Rochester
* Worcester Polytec I

I already got accepted to Drexel. I would like to know which is the best school for chemical engineering on this list that I could get into and enjoy great student life on campus.

Those SAT scores are everything together. (CR, M, W)
I am not looking for where I cannot get in, I am looking for where you think I could get in.

I didn’t want to list all due to privacy but I’ll list a few.
-NYC Ladders for Leaders Program
-Multiple Internships
-Math Tutor
-Student Representative in Student Council
-Treasurer of School Club
-Take classes outside of school to make up for classes my school doesn’t have
-A College Course

There is more but those are a few of my favorite.
I didn’t win any national awards, just a lot of school awards.

I don’t know what to say about grade inflation, since I do not have that knowledge, but regardless, I am a hard worker that is motivated to put in effort at any school I go to.

how come you didn’t try out U of minnesota-twin cities? even though your SAT scores are just about 25th percentile for reading, and lower than 25th percentile for math and writing.

if you have applied to schools like cornell and columbia, why not u of minn? it’s ranked 3rd in the US for chemical engineering.

The trick is that with a lot of these SAT optional schools, is that if I do not submit my SAT scores, they wouldn’t consider me for scholarships, which I need.

Also, many of these SAT optional schools are liberal arts/art schools that do not have my major.

I may consider applying to Johnson & Wales but I need to do more research.

I am waiting for someone to tell me where I could get in besides Drexel because I am getting worried. :/

Well, I think people just don’t know how to chance you. You have excellent grades and rank, but your standardized test scores are low, and you are a URM I don’t know how much the URM status helps, or the SAT scores hurt- sorry.

You’ll probably get in to CUNY, but would have more fun at Drexel. Did Drexel give you any $$$$?

Well, maybe SUNY, or Syracuse
Did you check put the program foundation year at Northeastern? You should check it out on a side note Northeastern got the highest number of applicants this year

Drexel gave me a merit scholarship of $13000, alumni scholarship of $1000, and I may also get the early fafsa scholarship of $1000. I received one outside scholarship for $1600 but of course I am applying for more.

@LookitsBoston Thank you. That program sounds GREAT! I wish I would be able to take advantage of it but it is only for students who live in Boston.

I was keeping an eye on Syracuse because they called my guidance counselor the other day since my school doesn’t offer all the classes I need for their program but my guidance counselor mentioned that I am taking them outside of school since my school doesn’t offer them.

Thanks. I am trying my best with what I got. They invited me to Scholars Day and hopefully that would be an opportunity to seek out more funding.
