What is the best conference?

<p>Students of various conferences are always claiming that their conference is best. Following are the USNWR rankings for academics and the 2005-2006 Directors Cup final standings for athletics. Which conference do you think is best? </p>

<p>Footnote: Because of the different league sizes, I chose the best ten from each conference but only the eight from the Ivy League.</p>

<p>I don't know why you need to pick the best ten if you are doing the average. It's unfair to conferences like Pac10 since you include the worst for it while dropping the worst for other conferences. You don't drop data upon averaging or doing any statistical analysis unless you can show they are outliers.</p>
