I am thinking how to get to Ithaca without a car. One can fly to one of three airports: Ithaca, Syracuse, and Newark. It is easy to get to Cornell if using the Ithaca airport, but the flight schedule is very limited and it costs considerable more. For Syracuse, there are limited bus transportation between Syracuse and Cornell (a few in each direction during a break). For Newark, there seems not direct bus between Ithaca and it (or it takes about 7 hours). I am trying to get to Cornell from home within 12 hours, rather than 24 or 30 hours. Any good suggestions?

You can take train or bus from Newark (at Penn Station) to Manhattan and then catch a bus to Ithaca very easily. Both the PATH train and NJ Transit buses go into Manhattan. From there, you can take either a Shortline or a Greyhound bus up to Ithaca. Ultimately, you want to be taking a bus from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York.

Thanks for the information. It will take at least close to 7 hours from Newark airport to Ithaca then: bus from Newark airport to Penn Station (15-40 minutes), train from Penn Station to Mahhattan (45 minutes to 60 minutes) and bus to Ithaca (5-6 hours). I wish that the bus from NY can stop at Newark Airport on its way to Ithaca.
