For example I currently have a job and I’m wanting to make the switch to an internship but I’m worried that if I go into an interview with a current job, telling them I’d need two weeks before I could start would sound bad. Nonetheless, I don’t want to leave my job too early if I’m not definite I have another position ready.
Its often assumed u may already be working and need to give your present employer notice.
“Ideally my preference would be to give a two week notice to my current employer, but I want to understand your needs as well. What is the ideal start date from your perspective?” Demonstrate concern for your current employer, as well as a desire to accommodate your desired employer as well. Seek a workable solution for all three parties.
2 weeks is normal.
You would be making a mistake to go work somewhere that did not support a two week notice.
Thank y’all, I wasnt sure because the only job transitions I’ve had was when I first started college (which I had already left my previous one) and I know most places usually want quick replacements (from my experiences).
