What is the Best way to apply to University of St. Andrews in Scotland

My DD applied as a transfer student in Feb, and heard 3 wks later but it was the transfer student deadline so I guess that is different.

Yes he’s getting ready to start his second year. He’s majoring in History.

@TomMorris nice. My middle son is also about to start his second year and in majoring in Management. He LOVES it and lived in McIntosh last year.

@college curious … our kids most likely know each other. Also was in McIntosh last year.

@TomMorris small world! My son is excited to return!I am going in 2 weeks to help him move into his apartment.

@collegecurious Mine goes back on Sept. 4. I’d love to go with him but he’ll figure out his flat on his own (and with his flat mate) … maybe :wink: he can’t wait to go back, which is good.

Mine flies.back on the 9th. She wanted to work here as many hours as.possible before returning and didn’t see that there would be much to do. I hope moving in to a house is not more time intensive than she thinks it will be.

@TomMorris and @VickiSoCal my son is going back so early for a couple of reasons. The main one being that he and his friends leave on Sept 1st or 2nd, I can’t remember, to visit Barcelona for a week of play and then return for Freshers week. I am the designated mother to help set up the apartment for my son and his two friends. We are going to spend some fun time too before everyone returns. Shopping in Edinburgh etc. My son has been working all summer since his finals got finished. He is ready for school which is more vacation lol!

@college_curious that sounds fun!

@TomMorris My DD is a history major as well!

The house is furnished, and there are 4 girls moving in. One is localish, so her parents will likely be around. I don’t think any other parents will be there. Mine is the last to arrive, mostly because of work. They are already grousing about her leaving! We are hoping that not much needs to be added to the house’s existing furnishings.

My son is letting a 2BR flat off Hepburn Gardens with a friend from Glasgow. All too typical 20 year boy/man … he has little to no idea what is actually in the flat furniture-wise, other than a UK double bed. They will figure it out but I do not envy them having to carry anything heavy the 15 minutes from town centre. It’s a new build place and caters to golfers in the summer, so I am pretty confident that it has everything they “need”.

Ha @TomMorris my son and his two flatmates have not a clue what is in their apartment. I even asked if there is a washer/dryer. No clue expect in one of the pics they took we do spy a washer. Now we are wondering will they have to hang everything dry or does the same machine also work as a dryer. Hmmmm. Must be a young man thing. They do know how many min exactly this apartment is from the Student Union and their favorite pubs!

lol college curious, almost certainly not a dryer- or not much of one (like, handles 2 pairs of jeans). They will find a folding drying rack at the local shops :slight_smile:

D definitely has only a washer. I can’t imagine what the drying laundry of 4 girls will look like.

@collegemoms3717 and @VickiSoCal I fear my son only has a washer too. He used the Caremore service for a bit last year but said they were ruining his clothes. I told him though maybe he should at least send his sheets out as drying those will be difficult. Good thing in typical male college student fashion, I doubt they will be washed much!

Best advice I got when sending boys off to college. Put at least 3 or 4 bottom sheets on your kids bed when you move them in. Every month or so when you speaking tell them to go over to their bed and peel off a sheet!
