Should my d. send emails? Or Snale mail?

At this point, I would probably say to do both -- email lets them know ASAP, so that if there are people languishing on the wait list, they might get notified sooner.

Snail mail, just to be very official, and have a record of it for yourself. (But - the letter may sit around on someone's desk for a while, in addition to the extra time it takes to get there.)

Email is good for timeliness on the waitlist but most of them will probably still request something via snail mail, especially if there is any money involved. They want a handwritten signature for their records from what I gather.

If you have not sent a deposit or signed any sort of written document I would say that an email is sufficient. This is really a huge courtesy, particularly to those on the waitlist.

If you have already accepted a slot in writing, or have sent a deposit then an email and a letter would be a good idea (as for as getting back the deposit before the May 1 deadline, you may also want to call the college)
