Hello. I'm a non-native speaker and I don't know most of the words in the Barron's word list. Can you tell me what is the best way to learn them properly. Now I study 50 words per day but I can't memorize them all. I want to have finished them by the middle of March so I should study at least 50 words/day (I even want to study 70 words/day to have enough time for the other sections).

I memorised about 2700+ words from that list!! My method was take one list at a time. No flashcards nothing. List number 1, i looked, marked over all the words i already knew so i didnt have to bother learnin em.. then it brought down a list of 70 words to like 55. Then I kept on readin that list alone like a book. Repetition will drill it in i swear! It did help me on the SAT. The timeframe depends on how much time you have and how much stamina as well. iNITIALLY i could go over like 15 lists in one try to recheck the words i knew, but near the end i couldnt do more than 6! the reason i studied only 2700 instead of all the 3500 which was my goal is because the test was at hand and i knew i knew a LOT of words so i stopped.

I have Direct Hits and I think that it would be better to memorize first the Barron's 3500 and then to check the most important of them in Direct Hits. Thanks for the answers. I'll be glad if you tell me some more tips because I've been memorizing words all the day (It's 12 AM right now in my country) and I've learnt 50 at the most.

Write all the words out on a sheet of paper like a gigantic flashcard. Then try memorizing one page at a time using the book and then test yourself without the definitions using the afformentioned piece of papar. You might not memorize it completely in one day, but make a schedule kinda like this

1st Day - memorize 1st set of words
2nd Day - memorize 2nd set of words
3rd day - review 1st set, memorize 3rd
4th day - review 2nd memorize 4th
5th day - review 3rd memorize 5th

etc.. and you should get most of the words down. Try making up sentences in your head instead of trying to memorize the definition word for word also

Any another ideas? I think that maybe a good idea is to write about 500 words at the weekend and to study them only from my notes (lists) as some of you said. I'll try it out this weekend.
