What is the chance for OOS student to get scholarship or grants in sophomore or later years?

I am an OOS freshmen, and I didn’t apply for financial aid when I applied to UCLA.

I was wondering if I can get some kind of financial aid or scholarship later in my years in UCLA, since I can’t afford 4 years of full OOS tuition.

How hard is it to get scholarship in UCLA?

As an OOS student, you should expect to pay the OOS tuition (which will be increasing 8% over the next few years) $23K plus your EFC. I gave you a link for financial aid/scholarships that may be available, plus I would look at your own specific department for additional scholarships, but you should expect to pay close to list price all 4 years. Majority of the FA available is for in-state California students/residents since CA taxpayers are paying for the UC’s.

My daughter is an incoming OOS freshman at UCLA. To our surprise she received a merit scholarship for 10,000 per year and also 2 grants on her PAL. One of the grants is to purchase the health insurance. Her COA is still kind of high because she is OOS, but not nearly what we thought it might be. As I said, we were very surprised, but guess there is some money for OOS kids?

If you don’t mind answering, what were her scores/GPA?

NCmom2 she must have written a very good application as getting Regents isn’t common, congrats to her. And UCLA is one of the UC that does have some grants from alumni that they give. The OP is already a student, they are not going to get the rare awards that go to freshmen.

Do you qualify for need based aid? That is the best chance if you do. Look for department and continuing student scholarships to apply to. You made a dangerous decision to attend a college you can’t pay for for 4 years. It will be a shame to pay high prices for the first years and finish the diploma at another school.

BrownParent…her scholarship is not regents. She received the UCLA achievement scholarship. We did not expect there to be any scholarship money available for an OOS student, so as I mentioned, very pleasantly surprised.

Revofev…we are from NC. Her GPA here is 5.1 weighted 4.0 unweighted. I believe her UC cap GPA would be 4.7 or 4.8. She has taken 11 AP classes. SAT was 2090/2400 and 1410/1600. ACT was 31. She has a laundry list of ECs and has held leadership roles and received several individual awards.
