What is the chance I'll get accepted?

Hello. I come from a small Ohio high school and I am in a class of 75, no AP classes or anything, I have a 4.0 though, like 8 other people in my grade..... :(

I did get a 33 on the Act:
34 English
33 Math
31 Reading
35 Science

I have a long list of clubs and activities and volunteer work.

How much do they weigh the essays? Is that ACT score good enough?

I know, my school is so backwards they really screw us over by not providing us with the opportunities we deserve...

The ACT is “good enough” to make you competitive, but that’s a long way from meaning it will get you in. It won’t. Yes, the essays are important, as are your recs and ECs. As for the limited offerings at your school curriculum-wise, AdComs understand this; they focus on how hard your curriculum has been relative to the hardest curriculum available at YOUR school, not someone else’s.
Good luck.

Your ACT score is definitely “good enough,” but Georgetown doesn’t place much weight on test scores - like most other selective colleges. Since your school (as you stated) doesn’t have a ton of opportunities, your good ACT score shows that you overcame that disadvantage - you can hope the Admissions Committee sees it like that!

As far as essays go, they’re pretty important - again, like at other selective schools. They can definitely make or break an application; while they might be willing to overlook some less-than-stellar test scores, you can bet they will take notice of a poorly written essay.

anyone else want to chance?
