<p>i found a thread about this very thing–i’ll give it a read.</p>
<p>i talked to a student about this yesterday; basically it’s very similar to the CGS in that its a very structured first year to get a lot of gen-eds out of the way (different than CGS in that its only one year, and not two). i’ve heard it’s a good idea because then you can start taking classes you want to take earlier on than having to complete graduation requirements as an upperclassman.</p>
<p>But you can do that with divisional studies too. All students are encouraged to get their gen eds out of the way early. And it’s not exactly like CGS…no team research paper at the end, more writing, more difficult. It’s also 2 classes a semester instead of 3-4.</p>
