I noticed that almost all the scholarships I'm finding say "students with financial need" My parents make over $100k a year, does this mean I don't qualify for need based scholarships? I know our EFC is like $20k a year to a $40-45k a year school, so there is a lot of money I need to make up. How do I know whether its worth the time to apply to these scholarships when almost all of them say something involving need????

Many schools will TRY to meet the gap between your EFC & the cost of attending their schools. The schools that have a lot of money & for whom you are at or above their 75%tile may offer more grants & scholarships than others, but most schools will at least offer some loans & other means of paying the $40-45K for your schooling.

Another caveat is that some schools offer more generous packages to incoming freshman & then increasingly make more of the package loans for subsequent years of study.

You DO have need if your EFC is lower than the cost of attending the school. You have to follow the procedures for each school & scholarship to apply for aid. Good luck!
