Why is Bing ranked soo low in US News Rankings? It's ranked pretty high in Forbes and Kiplinger but that isn't the case with US News. It's in the 80s among National Universities (Lower than Indiana, Iowa, UC Santa Cruz and the following.. are you kidding me?) and its ranked 39th (ranked lower than Michigan State, Miami, Alabama and Auburn) in the public universities. I know that these rankings most likely doesn't mean anything, but I'm not getting this. What is so lacking with 33% admission rate, and Bing's high GPA/SAT average?

Forbes/Kiplinger are measuring something different that US News. They are balancing the cost of attendance against other variables. The better the ratio, the better the school’s “value” according to them.

And, given the fact that there are around 3000 colleges/universities in the US, a rank of 80-ish certainly isn’t something to write off.

Anyway, I agree Bing deserves more recognition, but who honestly cares? The rankings are certainly flawed and I’d rather have students applying to Binghamton in spite of its ranking rather than only because of it.

yeah that’s probably true, its like not employers later will be like “oh you cant come here Bing is ranked so and so in USNWR” but still US News seems pretty flawed to rank Bing below so many academically inferior schools. whatever, I love Bing. Its not like USNWR people goes to college and experiences it firsthand like us.

Yeah, I noticed that too, but truly, they’ve got to be kidding! Bing is a top school, you can’t compare it with Alabama-no offense to the Crimsons-, but, really?! It’s puzzling…
