What is the difference between Econ 100A and Econ 101A?

Course Description of Econ 100A : Resource allocation and price determination.

Course Description: Theory of resource allocation and price determination with an emphasis on microeconomic principles.

What is the difference?

thanks everyone

Econ 101A requires multi-variable calculus (Math 53), while Econ 101A only requires either Math 1A or 16A (single variable calculus).

Do you mean 101A requires Math 53?
So, 101A is more difficult?

101A is a mathematical based micro-economics course that is much more difficult than 100A, which is much more theory based course. Do not take 101A unless your multi-variable calculus skills are good.

If you have to ask take 100A. ;-)

But, I want to take Introduction to Finance later. And its prerequisite is 101A.

Is 100A equivalent to 101A?

Introduction to Finance -- Undergraduate Business Administration (UGBA) 103 [4 units]
Course Format: Three hours of lecture and one and one-half hours of discussion per week.
Prerequisites: 101A.
Formerly Business Administration 130
Description: Analysis and management of the flow of funds through an enterprise. Cash management, source and application of funds, term loans, types and sources of long-term capital. Capital budgeting, cost of capital, and financial structure. Introduction to capital markets.

If you aced Math 53, then take 101A. If you didn't ace Math 53, don't take 101A.

Not as though it makes much difference right now. I tried to enroll in Economics 101A today, and while it looks like spots are available, they are reserved for transfer students and instructor approval. It may just have to wait.

The prerequisite class for Introduction to Finance is UGBA 101A or its equivalents (Econ 100A/101A).

thz Golden Bear,
I will take 100A then
