does ed1 give you more chance?!

The reason schools have ED1 and ED2 is essentially to allow students a second shot at a binding early decision if they are rejected by their first ED (or EA) school. The timing is later on the second ED round, obviously (set after most ED responses have been sent to applicants). Chances are harder to estimate… note that ED is binding, so you MUST attend if you are accepted. You have a better chance to compare a lot of financial aid offers if you do not apply ED, of course.

“ED is binding, so you MUST attend if you are accepted” unless you ask for financial aid, in which case the school will make an offer you can decline if it’s insufficient to support attendance. You must take it or leave it, with no chance to compare offers, so ED is appropriate only for your number one top choice, your dream school, when you want only to know if you can afford it.
