What is the difference between HS and College math classes

The major i want to go into is not math related whatsoever, but if I understand correctly, I still need to take math classes in college for GEs. Is this true? I have taken up to Algebra 2 so far and I’ll be a junior next year. Does this mean i will have to take Calculus im college or can I take an easier class? (Math is my least favorite and most difficult subject, and it’s irrelevent to my field, so I just want to get it out of the way.)

What do you mean by “GE?”

General Ed requirements

Colleges vary in terms of what math they require for general education.

It is very common to require a course higher than algebra 2 or intermediate algebra. Examples include introductory statistics, precalculus, or higher courses like calculus. But some colleges may require more, while others may require less or none at all. Some may allow a sufficiently high score on a math placement test or an AP score to fulfill the requirement.
