I am currently a freshman in highschool with a 3.9 GPA (Not 4.0 because one teacher I have is a b word and gives us 0's easily).. And have looked a lot into what colleges expect, most of the time I have heard they dont look so much at your GPA depending on your classes. So to the question, what is the difference in pre-ap and regular? I know it's more difficult but in my school all my ap friends etc will be doing the same exact thing as me and when they have essays that are the same exact same as ours they are shorter. EX: We had to write a 10 Paragraph essay on if we were born in Ancient India in the dawn of civilizations and use 20 vocab words.. They only had 5 paragraphs and no vocab words.

Also, if I took Pre-AP Lit and World History, would it matter what class as long as it's Pre-AP so colleges see if you're challenging your self?

Pre-AP i’m guessing is Honors or a level above that. Colleges will look these rigorous courses so its good you’re taking them and it doesn’t matter what class.

Pre-AP is usually what it sounds like. A class to prepare you for an AP class.

My school doesn’t call any classes Pre-AP but there are certain honors classes that are specifically taken by students who want to take (Insert AP Class here)

Examples

World History Honors is a class taken by Freshman/Sophomores who want to take an AP History (Of any kind) later on in their high school career. The main difference is you cover the same material, but are taught more writing skills to prepare you for AP FRQ’s/DBQ’s in the future for AP Tests/Classes.

Spanish 3 Honors is a class taken by mostly juniors (some sophomores who are native speakers who they allow to skip Spanish 1 freshman year) who want to take AP Spanish Language the next year. The material covered is the same as core, the only difference is that more emphasis is put on speaking and listening/understanding as opposed to the core class which mainly focuses on only grammatical concepts with very little speaking and listening.

Pre Calc Honors is a class taken by sophomores and juniors to prepare them for AP Calculus (AB), it covers all the material that core Pre Calculus covers but the last few weeks are spent doing basic calculus. (Limits, Derivatives)
The biggest difference however is the rigor of the tests and teaching you how to explain why you do things and writing sentence answers for word problems to prepare you for the AP test for AP Calc.

Those are the only examples at my school, but I’m sure you could come up with more at other schools.
