I heard that CALS is the easiest but I have also heard that CAS is easy to I just wanted to know what most people thought. I might be applying as a history major is that a hard major to transfer into? Thanks

CALS - 50.9%
Architecture - 22.1%
Arts and Sciences - 7.8%
Engineering - 31.3%
Hotel - 25.3%
Human Ecology - 43.2%
ILR - 52.5%

^^^ 2006 Transfer rates sticky post #22

history is in CAS. Hardest to get into.

No, you can't fake your way in, admissions will pick you out. Your best shot is in CAS.

Don't apply to one school with the intention of internally transferring. They can usually tell if you show no interest at all in your fake major. CAS is extremely difficult though, so it would certainly be beneficial for you if you could find an interesting major in ILR, CALS, or Human Ecology as well. When I was considering applying, you were allowed to apply to a 2nd choice college. Best to apply to CAS and something like maybe ILR as it has some nice CAS-like majors.

^^^

that wont work either, I got a bit of an inside scoop on the issue.

why not? For instance, if someone has an interest in Economics why not also apply to ILR's similar Econ program or CALS AEM? Why else would Cornell practically encourage applicants to list a second college/major interest if they did not think interests could not cross boundaries?

I don't know, I'm just reporting the information as I hear it. Well, some of it.

I know that CALS has a fairly high acceptance rate but does anyone know how selective AEM is? I know it can't be 50% but is it as hard as CAS?

I'm planning on applying to AEM and ILR as a second choice, my reasons for choosing ILR is not as a back door into transferring internally as if it weren't for AEM I would probably choose ILR over any other college I'll be applying to anyway. Hopefully Gomestar isn't going to tell me that won't work either :D

What does CAS stand for?
And with does ILR stand for?

college of arts and sciences, and industrial and labor relations

bump** anyone know the answer to my question?

I was thinking of applying to CAS but i know alot of people that didnt get in and i want to major in history i heard that is hard anyone got any comments

as has been noted in posts #2 and #3, CAS is very hard to transfer into.

does anyone know the acceptance rate for CALS Biological Sciences?
