What is the entire process of FBLA in high school?

I’ve started an FBLA, what now? Do I have to register for topics? Do I have to prepare for something? What do I do during my weekly meetings?

I went to FBLA Nationals 2018:

  • Start off by finding some events that interest you
  • In Colorado, you can compete at 2 events regionally and 1 at state
  • If you have a pre-judged event, research and put together your submission
  • If you have a live event, study/prepare ahead of time
  • Head with your team to regionals
  • Advance to state (depending on your placement there)
  • Advance to nationals (depending on your placement there)
Sometimes teams do fundraising events to raise enough money for their members to participate in these regional/state/national events. My experience was relatively straight-forward, but I imagine for bigger chapters there is more bureaucracy to the way the organization is run.

How do you find events that interest you? I know there are “topics” but those competitions are for May. What do I present in the club before that? Does FBLA have competitions multiple times a year not just May?
Thank you
