What is the expected work time for an OSU student?

I understand every student is different and some will need to work much harder than others. However, I was wondering if someone would give an idea of how much work/studying is usually expected of an OSU student.

Is it something like 1 hour a day for each course, more or less?

Officially, for a x-credit class that also meet for x hours per week, 2x hours of outside class effort is required. So, if you take 15 credits in a semester, expect to put in 30 hours per week on readings, assignments/projects/papers and preparing for exams.

Having said this, I think it varies a lot depending upon the subject. Most likely, it is on a higher side for engineering and hard sciences, and lower end for many of the other areas. Of course, it will also vary depending upon the GPA one is shooting for. You need to work harder to get an A as compared to a C!
