What is the Experience Brown visit like?

I’m signed up for a campus tour with info session and the Experience Brown program. Has anyone done the program? What did you do during it? Was it helpful in deciding? Thanks!

Visits are a great way to get to know the college. Stay up front and ask lots of questions of the tour guide.

But for us, and for the tour guide, you need to be more specific…what matters to you in a college experience and what do you want to know?

For my Daughter, it really just meant going to a class and then lunch with a student in her intended concentration. The schedule is set up so you can take a tour and sit in on an information session as well, but it is not really connected to Experience Brown.

It was pretty underwhelming, but better than just going on the tour/to an information session I guess.

^ That sounds disappointing. Did it make a difference as to whether your daughter applied or not applied?

Thanks for your input! If anyone is interested, I went and did the program. For me, I thought it was great, but I think it depends on whether the student you’re paired with is friendly or not. If you aren’t really interested in Brown, it won’t radically change your mind or anything, but as someone interested in applying ED next year I thought it was super helpful and I loved it! Highly suggest.

I did similar events at other colleges I was applying too, and echo the above comment that it largely depends on how good your host is.

Im a current student now, and just hosted a prefrosh last week. It was fun for me, and seemed fun for her. My only advice though is to be geniune and really try to gather information for yourself. Have fun. I think my prefrosh thought I would report to Admissions after, and was kind of awkward and forced Initially.

My host was amazing! It was awesome and he got his other 3 roommates involved. He totally hooked me up and made me feel welcome. Found appropriate classes for me and found people to attend them with me, since he was only in one class I attended. I felt like I fit right in. It made me want to go to Brown even more than I already had! I agree it will highly depend on your host. Since I’ve been admitted, I talk to him now even though my experience was in September. I would definitely give it a try. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.
