Has anyone heard from Eastman yet? I know of people who were accepted at the end of Februrary, so that whole April 1st thing is BS. I'm also waiting to hear from Purchase and Juilliard. I got accepted to University of North Texas months ago. Its so hard to be patient when other people are hearing!!!

It is hard to wait.
Congratulations on North Texas. Our son knows someone in the grad music program there...it is a fine school.
Our son is still waiting on his transfer app to Manhattan School of Music.
I wish you luck with your remaining schools.

My son received his thin letter from Eastman today. At least the wait is over. I hope you get better news.

Oh, pianomom, I'm sorry about Eastman -- I know how much your S wanted to study there, but I also know he felt it was a longshot. Have you heard from the other schools he auditioned at, or is he going to try to settle in where he's at? My S's roommate is unhappy (at Juilliard - he doesn't like his teacher-- the teacher is SO important), and has been auditioning too. Just when you think it's over for awhile....

And muoboe, we didn't hear from Juilliard till early-April (2 years ago). Friends heard a few days sooner, but we are overseas. The wait didn't get hard until the friends started hearing!

Best wishes to everyone still waiting.

I have a friend whose daughter (as of today anyway) is still waiting to hear from Eastman...

Thanks for your concern binx.
He's taking it in stride. I guess the kids get used to it when they've been entering competitions and playing auditions for several years. He received a rejection from U of Michigan a couple weeks ago so he's down to waiting for Oberlin. He also found out last week that he didn't get into the studio he auditioned for at his first choice festival so he contacted his plan B festival and is accepted there. (Thank goodness!) It's been a rough month. Fortunately things are going much better with his private teacher. He's very happy with all aspects of his music theory and liberal arts classes so that's also positive. If Oberlin isn't a go, he'll stay put for the last three of five years.

As he took sample lessons last summer and fall, he did begin to compare teaching styles and personalities and came to the realization that while no teacher was perfect, his current one had many qualities that he truly valued.

I guess I'm relieved that he got in where he did. He's getting a fine education and learning an awful lot about the importance of putting together a perfect performance.

pianomom - sorry to hear the news. It is always hard when things don't go as hoped for.

I also want to say that if I remember correctly, when my son was accepted to Eastman 4 years ago, we didn't hear until well after April 1, so don't panic.

My son got his thin letter from Eastman yesterday. But he already knew he wasn't going to get in. Good luck to everyone else who applied -- it must be hard to not know one way or the other. I think the rejection letters have all gone out so if you don't get one within the next few days, you might be in luck!

Still no word from USC Thornton School, seems ominous since at least a few others have heard they were accepted.

My son received his Eastman rejection letter on 3/20 and just received an acceptance from the University of Rochester for transfer admission. At least we know he was academically acceptable!!

Indiana U. music school recently rejected my son. Today the university sent a letter stating that, if he would fax a statement indicating a different choice of major, he would be strongly considered for an academic scholarship....nice, but no thanks.
