What is the job outlook for Mathematics professors?

Will it be easier to find a job as a Math professor in future years or harder? I've always wanted to be a Math professor, but recently it seems as if there are more PhDs than academia spots...

Getting a job as a math professor is competitive. One reason is that many math majors and PhDs choose to enter academia, whereas for example most engineering students get industry jobs and don’t compete for professorships. The PhD is a lot of work and at a top school will require tremendous dedication and passion for your research. It’s not uncommon for people to drop out of a PhD program, and there’s no guarantee that you’ll solve the problem you choose. You’re also correct that there are many more PhDs than academic positions. You have to be very dedicated to choose this route, but if you really enjoy it there are few other careers that would be as satisfying.
