First of all, I wasn't sure whether to post this here or not, but I figured since geography includes some earth sciences, it would be somewhat appropriate.

Anyway, it is ultimately my goal to go to grad school eventually, but i was just wondering (in case poop hits the fan) what to job outlook was like for geography majors. Thanks in advance!

Whatever you do, make sure you have a strong foundation in GIS. This will also give you a particular job skill that employers look for. My company once hired a PhD candidate in Geography as a GIS Specialist who didn’t know the first thing about GIS. We couldn’t figure that out but it turned out they were just looking for a warm body before they lost the position. Needless to say, he didn’t last long, because while I was willing to teach him, he wasn’t willing to learn. No one could figure out how he got through multiple geography degrees without learning what a shapefile was.
