I saw on this chart on a website showing students that got into UF. Some got admitted even with a low GPA and/or test score. How did they do that? Has anyone with a somewhat low or average GPA or testing score got into University of Florida? If so, how is this possible? I always thought UF really looks for those high grades and test scores.
Look up the common data set for UF, section C. It will show what is used in admission and what the stats are for admitted students. As far as stats in the bottom quarter of admitted students, look at UF’s sports teams which do quite well.
Putting aside student athletics, UF uses holistic admissions. About 50% of admissions is based on GPA (most important), class rigor, test score and essay. The other 50% is based on EC’s, leadership, etc. So, while UF is selective, the group of admitted students could have a wide range of test scores and GPA.
UF’s CDS info:

Check out sections C9 thru C12.
Even with holistic admissions, GPA is still critical, while test score are much less so.
Percent who had GPA of 3.75 and higher 94%
Percent in top tenth of high school graduating class 76.6%
Percent in top quarter of high school graduating class 96.7%
Good Luck!
