Yeah, so I really want to go to Pomona. Except so does everyone else at my high school it seems. Me and at least nine others that I know of are applying to Pomona, and all of us have good stats. And since Pomona does have class sizes of only 400, obviously they can't accept all of us. So, how many of us can I expect to get accepted? Is there a high school cap on admissions?

I'd be surprised if Pomona had an official cap. In the waiting room of their admissions office they have a ring binder listing the high school of the previous admitted class. It seems like the vast majority of kids are the sole attendee from their high school. But as I recall there were several high schools with two or sometimes three students attending. Does anyone else remember this book?

I remember the book. D's graduating class had four applicants to Pomona (2 ED and 2 RD). Three (2 ED and 1 RD) were accepted and attend.

Good luck!

How much do senior grades matter? I took a ridculously hard schedule and I am sturggling so much this year. My schedule is something like this

A.P English Language and Composition
A.P Microeconomics
A.P Calculus AB
A.P Chemistry
Linear Algebra/Differential Equations
Biology Projects 5 (Intel sts research - writing a research paper not fun!!!)
Macroeconomics at a Local college

would an 88 overall avg hurt my chances too much?

depends- i really stepped up my schedule this year too, but i worked really hard and signifigantly improved my GPA. i got deferred from ED1, but the admissions officer i talked to said that if i kept up my grades i'd have a great shot.

if your grades have decreased from what they have been throughout high school, it may hurt you.

I know but my schedule is beast. I go to a school where academics are really hard (Bx.Sci or Stuy). Even at these schools my schedule is more advanced than most. Our schools doesn't weight but I know schools do. If everything on my transcript was weighted this would be my 2nd highest term. Weighted I have a 94 ( i am only counting a.p's , linear is a post ap level class so dont know how that works , same about research seminars). I screwed up.

I guess I better write a really good science supplement.

Wait, do you go to the Bronx School of Science or whatever it is called?

Bronx Science or Stuyvesant. I want to maintain anonoymoity as adcoms do patrol these forums. But put it like this a person with a 92 avg from one of those schools wouldn't be applying to Pomona. Theyre about equal anyways. Does this change anything?

Well considering your school has something like 7 Nobel prize winners and 5 Pulitzers as alumni I would assume they would understand your coursework differs from the average student.

There is no limit. Although it is statistically unlikely for a large number from one school to be accepted, simply because so few are accepted.
