I know that interview is a tool or another method for the school to get to know students more... but for all 22000 approximately students apply , will they all have the chance to express themselves... I just wonder if an interview means that you are one step closer to Harvard... or is there a process of selecting students for an interview

No, everyone who has an interviewer in their area is set up for an interview. Having an interview does NOT mean you're more likely to get into Harvard or that you were shortlisted- it just means they were able to set an interview up.

If one does obtain an interview, how does that bear on the application?

For example, if the interviewer hates you, does this lower your chances compared to another student who was not able to set up an interview?

I can slam-dunk interviews left and right, but Harvard alumni can be intimidating :)
