What is the meaning of "Participation Grade Levels" in the Activities section of Common Application?

<p>I was confused about what "Participation Grade Levels" indicates.</p>

<p>the grade level in which you participated in the activity… freshman year? sophomore year? freshman and sophomore year? etc</p>

<p>And if you did it during summer, just pick one grade or the other – so long as you are consistent if you did it multiple years.</p>
