<p>I left off Duke because of its football troubles and because I believe a “complete” school must have a good college town to boot. I haven’t been out to California since I was a small child so I really don’t know much about the locales surrounding USC and UCLA, although they do have the athletic+academic combo part going. The schools I listed (UNC, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, Michigan) all have the distinction of being located in great college towns. </p>
<p>I’d probably add Georgia Tech, too, if you are math or science oriented. Atlanta isn’t really a “college town”, but Georgia Tech is located in a pretty cool area.</p>
