I think KEEPING FIT is quite a challenge, too.

Money…you need it and you need to use what you have wisely because you don’t want to go without food or something you need because you bought something you want but is unnecessary

looking back on it MONEY/financial issues are absolutely the #1 challenge most students will encounter. The rest of the stuff is easier to adapt to than you might think.

Meeting new people is the hardest thing I believe, BUT at the same time it’s the best part about it too.

I would have to say Adjusting to a very different social world and the money.

I’m worried about my parent’s money…
Going to michigan from texas…

None of the above? I’m a boarding school kid.

academics. i’m so scared.

Whoa! I am so surprised financial challenges are voted low… It has always been my fear, but maybe I am one of the few lucky ones who needs to admit it?

Academics are a issue of time management, IMO. I am, however, scared of new pressures being fired at me. As for family/roommates/friends issues, it is a matter of trying. But I hate numbers and the fact that college costs money.

That is very true, especially when your lazy like me. :D

i just hope i’ll be able to structure my time well so i can study enough and have fun

I voted for Adjusting for academics. Because it will me more work of course. I guess it’s time to adjust everything. Hobbies, sleep, social life, everything, everything must be adjusted so that it’ll be more time for me to study study study.

OK I am the Dad just reading this thread to see how you all felt.

I can assure all of you that your worst fears today will just pass. Sure there will be roadblocks, headaches and a few heartaches. But think how your fellow high school students that stayed home at your local CC feel? Yes they are in awe of you and the chalenge that you have accepted.

Oh one more thing from the old guy. The next 4 or 5 or 6 years are going to be the best years of your life. So enjoy them, live the moment and grow as a person.

Good Luck to you all.

For me, living with roommates. I can deal with the rest though. I’ve got myself into a three-person room, Sunset Village at UCLA. I was hoping to get a place to myself, really. There are two things that may concern me; that the roommates are too much of a distraction, and that I do not get along with them well enough.

The Good the good thing about your fear. Is that you can control it.

Just let your guard. Keep in mind that these girls are only roommates and next year or semester they will be gone.

“The Power of Positive Thinking” if you havent read it? Read it.

I guess I’m lucky, my uni is 10 minutes from my home I’ll still get home cooked meals and a room to myself. I hope I don’t feel like I’m missing out though =/ Going to a private school with no money help from the parental units is going to be hard for me.

I would always go for Academics first !

i voted for being away from home/family, but in all honesty it’s going to be staying healthy. college is the #1 contributor to developing habits that leads to corporate “fatass” america. in college you always try to waste as little time as possible which leads to fast food. it’s hard to break that habit afterwards.

I knew the academics were going to be hard, so I think the worst part is the financial aspect. I didn’t realize how much money college required until I got here. Aside from the school-related things (tuition, housing, books, etc), I didn’t realize just how much the personal expenses were going to be. I also wasn’t expecting to get ZERO grants or scholarships. I’m going to be rollin’ cheap for the next 4 years of my life
