What is the obsession with "IVY"?

<p>Where does it come from? Are we conditioned by society to strive for an IVY? VVTF I mean seriously its not that big a deal. I mean Cornell is an Ivy but its not that great of a school.</p>

<p>It’s just a quick way to identify 8 of the top 20 or so schools in the country, though other than a sports division, some rules about scholarship and admissions, and general “quality”, they share few other features.</p>
